Study in Helsinki Student Guide
This guide provides information on where and how to find services available for international students living in the Helsinki metropolitan region. It helps student to find out things related to visas, residence permits, Student Union Membership and Benefits, Student Financial Aid and Other Grants, housing and transportation, work permit, employment services etc.
It is mostly aimed at degree students and personnel working with them, but much of the information also applies to short-term students. The aim is to provide useful information and advice for all international students in their effort to integrate into Finnish society.

The International Cultural Centre Caisa
Caisa is an international cultural centre established in the core of Helsinki in 1996. Its object is to support the development of a diversified city by promoting interaction between people from different countries, encouraging the independent original practice of new ethnic minority cultures whilst integrating them into a Finnish society and giving out information on Finland.
The International Cultural Centre Caisa organises and executes concerts, food festivals, exhibitions, seminars, courses, clubs and its own singing competition The Ourvision Singing Contest.

Jolly Dragon

Ne-Ra
Ne-Ra is a place where you will get help in English regarding the social services. The services provided by Ne-Ra are free of charge. Students of social work are going to help you. You can contact or visit the place if you need advice on social services, assistance with filling forms, support when dealing with authorities. The service aims to empower people to cope in different conditions and stages of life by giving advice on social services and benefits.
Ne-Ra organizes also free courses in English about the Finnish society and welfare system. In the course will be discussed what to do or where to go if there are problems examples with work, housing and financial situation. Participants can also receive personal counselling.

EURES - European Employment Services
EURES - European Employment Services - is a cooperation network designed to facilitate the free movement of workers within the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland. The network is coordinated by the European Commission, and partners include public employment services, trade union and employers’ organisations.
At the EURES Job Mobility Portal job-seekers can search advertised positions by occupation, location, keyword or date. There are over 300,000 jobs advertised at the site, although only 94 are in Finland. However, this is a relatively new project and with luck the Finnish content will expand.
EURES is also a meeting point for employers and job-seekers. CV’s can be posted on the site, and employers can look for suitable applicants and get in touch with them easily. Job-seekers can present their profile in English, German or French.
The site’s Living and Working Conditions database contains details on a wide range of practical, legal and administrative questions. Another valuable tool is the Labour Market Information database, which contains information on current trends in the European labour market by country, region and sector of activity.
The service is free to both job-seekers and employers.

Finding a House or Apartment (Asunto) in Finland
